This Privacy Policy explains how Equals2 ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA") and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 ("ECT Act").

Because our Service is used by parents on behalf of their children, we take extra care to protect children's personal information as required under Sections 34 and 35 of POPIA.

We do not collect: children's real names (unless chosen as a nickname by the parent), ID numbers, physical addresses, phone numbers, photos, location data, or biometric data.

Each provider processes data under their own privacy policies and in accordance with contractual obligations to protect your information. We do not share data with any other third parties.

Some of our service providers (Supabase, Anthropic) may process data on servers located outside of South Africa. In accordance with Section 72 of POPIA, we ensure that any cross-border transfer of personal information is subject to one or more of the following safeguards:

Equals2 uses local storage (not traditional cookies) to track free diagnostic attempt counts. This data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. No third-party tracking cookies are used. For more details, see our Cookie Notice.

We may send you service-related communications (subscription confirmations, diagnostic reminders, important updates). These are not marketing communications and are necessary for the operation of your Account.

We will only send promotional or marketing communications with your explicit opt-in consent. You may withdraw this consent at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any marketing email or by emailing support@equals2.co.za.

We will never send direct marketing communications to children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes — particularly to how we handle children's data — we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy indicates the most recent revision.
